What is Red Light Therapy?
Simply put, it is a specifically tailored light spectrum that when applied to the skin stimulates and enables - in a natural manner, the production of collagen and elastin becoming a popular weapon in the fight against damaged or aging skin. Plus, a lengthy list of other positive health benefits too. You will be pleased to read, that RLT has zero known side effects for the majority of people. It is painless, noninvasive, drug-free, and safely used by all ages and skin types. All with zero down time, widely used and effective in fueling our overall physical vitality. Plus, it is a truly enjoyable service to experience. Very relaxing … the session just feels good to do in general.
How does Red Light Therapy work?
Visible red light penetrates the skin to a depth of approx. 8 to 10 mm. Once absorbed, the light energy is then converted to cellular energy and in turn stimulates the body’s natural processes ability on a cellular level igniting a series of metabolic events including:
- Increased circulation and the formation of new capillaries
- Increased lymph system activity
- Increased production of collagen and fibroblasts
- Increased release of ATP, or raw cellular energy
- Increased phagocytosis or cellular clean up
- Tissue granulation stimulated
- Inflammation reduced
These events combined, work together to produce an array of benefits to you in the areas of anti-aging, the healing of wounds, various body injuries, reports of pain relief plus so much more. On the specific topic of skin care and RLT, users report quickly receiving a healthy glow plus a noticeable smoothness in texture and overall tone of the skin. The applied light stimulates the dermis layer and signals the fibroblast cells to naturally produce collagen and elastin which aids in the reduction of lines and wrinkles. Over time these cells will grow and divide giving skin an overall improvement and after some time of using RLT … a more youthful appearance. As we age, the production of new cells greatly diminishes which in turn, reduces the number of elastin, fibers and collagen production, skin then often loses its elasticity abilities allowing lines and wrinkles to start showing. Trying our RLT services may be just the perfect tool for you in combating this natural production loss. Much research and endless users report RLT has been an effective aid for many health concerns such as psoriasis, rosacea, acne, blemishes, faster healing and fading of scars, stretch marks, it is also used in preventing hair loss thru its ability to stimulate regrowth. It is commonly used to help reduce and assist in repairing over exposure sun damage that may even show up have after years of skin abuse or from not applying proper skin protections particularly from the days of our youth when playing outside all day long and SPF’s were not widely known, promoted or used. It can reduce redness, flush skin and aid in the healing of broken capillaries.
Are there health risks associated to using RLT?
In study after study all over the world, there are no reported adverse side effects from red light therapy but there are some precautions you should consider before usage. The biggest risk commonly associated with this service is users not wearing the proper eye protection. Not that red or infrared light itself is damaging but do produce a high amount of glare intensity and it is not recommended to view it directly with the naked eye. Proper eye protection should be worn for each session and is required here when using our RLT services.
As all things related to your health and our services, we recommend if you have any concerns, medical conditions or questions unanswered or you need more clarification on something in particular, we encourage you to consult with your medical care professional about it all. This service is generally safe, enjoyable and highly effective, but only you and your doctor can decide should you have any physical conditions or heath concerns before using this service.
What are the Wavelengths of RLT?
Red light therapy uses wavelengths of light roughly between 620 nm and 700 nm. Popular wavelengths used in research are 630 nm and 660 nm. Regardless of claims of only “specific wavelengths” being effective, the whole ranges of visible red light wavelengths are effective and beneficial. In fact, many skin treatments today include multiple wavelengths combined for usage instead of just one.
